There’s a lot to consider when installing or upgrading your fire alarm system. At Carolina Smart Home, we take your safety seriously and protect what matters most - your family and property. We provide expert residential and commercial fire alarm system installation. Here are the main types of fire alarms on the market.
Most fire alarms fall into two main groups:
All types of fire alarms will fall into one or both of these groups. Both will have alarm points, smoke detectors, and a control panel to give an indication of a fire’s location, if one possible. There are also open and closed protocol fire alarm systems. These aren’t separate categories from the two types above. They are approaches to how the various components communicate with each other and external devices.
The smoke/fire/heat detectors and alarm points are connected to the central control panel in series. The property is broken into zones. If an alarm goes off, the panel indicates the zone in which the alarm was triggered.
Pros:
Cons:
Rather than breaking the site into zones, each detector and fire point is given its own address. If an alarm is triggered, the panel will show its exact location. They can be complicated to set up and often require professional fire alarm system installation.
